PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a parallel hybrid system for use with existing components.SOLUTION: There is provided a parallel hybrid system utilizing a Power Take Off (3) connection on an automatic transmission (2) as a transfer port for an electric motor (4) powered by a battery (5). The electric motor (4) provides motive power or regenerative braking in a driving mode, or provides power to accessories (10) typically mounted on a conventional PTO (3) while stationary.
