To provide a parking device for a vehicle capable of enhancing the shift feeling in the normal parking shift other than that on a slope while ensuring the parking holding performance in the parking shift on the slope.
In the parking device P for the vehicle, the parking position is set, in which a parking gear 1 and a parking pole 2 are engaged with each other by the shift operation of an occupant to maintain the stopped state of a vehicle. The parking device has a detent mechanism DT consisting of a detent plate 8 which is operated corresponding to the shift operation, and a detent spring 10 for holding the parking position by regulating the operation of the detent plate by engaging the spring with the detent plate by giving the pressing force Fp to the detent plate. The parking device also has an assist mechanism AS for increasing/decreasing the pressing force Fp of the detent spring 10 based on the angle of inclination in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle.
