Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a parking support device which can relieve driver's operational burden by reporting the driver of a starting position of a steering unit for reverse turning in parking operation.
SOLUTION: The parking support device 1 supports driver's steering operation for parking by photographing a back view of motor vehicle 2 using a camera 11 and displaying the photographed back view on a monitor screen provided in the vehicle 2. On monitor screen 17, a starting position of reverse turning of a steering wheel 12 is also displayed, wherein the vehicle 2 is first drove backward and turned toward one direction while the steering wheel 12 is kept hold at a given steering angle, then the steering wheel is reverse-turned with an approximately maximum angle and the vehicle 2 is drive backward and turned to the reversed direction while the steering wheel is kept hold at the maximum angle.
