To provide a parking support system which monitors for displaying with a photographed image a virtual three-dimensional object having a guide effect to a parking target for a driver.
The parking support system includes: a bird's-eye view image generating section, which generates a periphery bird's-eye view image by converting viewpoint of a photographed image of a peripheral region in the traveling direction of a self-vehicle based on a virtual viewpoint from an obliquely upward position; a parking area boundary computing section, which computes a boundary of a parking area; a virtual three-dimensional object selecting section, which selects a form of the virtual three-dimensional object for a parking guide; a three-dimensional bird's eye view image generating section, which generates a three-dimensional bird's eye view image of the virtual three-dimensional object arranged along the boundary of the parking area based on the obliquely upward virtual viewpoint; and an image composing section, which composes the periphery bird's eye view image with the bird's eye view image of the three-dimensional object to output it as a monitor display image.
