To provide a particle classifier having an arrangement for generating no vortex flow in a region for classifying particles.
The particle classifier includes a pair of counter electrodes 3 and 4 arranged facedly generating an electric field for classifying charged particles by the electromigration degree and forming a classification region 5, a sheath gas supply section 7 supplying non-charged gas as sheath gas from one end side of the classification region 5 to the classification region 5, a sample gas supply section 11 disposed on one electrode side on the upstream side of the classification region 5 and at a position separated from the electrode so that the delivery direction is parallel with the sheath gas flow and supplying sample gas in the flow direction of the sheath gas, and a suction section 17 disposed on the other electrode side on the downstream side of the classification region 5 and at a position separated from the electrode so that the suction direction is parallel with the sheath gas flow and sucking a part of charged particles in the classified charged aerosol at a constant flow rate in the flow direction of the sheath gas.
