To efficiently classify particles of intermediate particle size having prescribed major axis of ≥1 and ≤20 mm.
A particle classifier 100 is provided with a classification container 11, a sample charging part (a sample charging line) 12 for supplying a sample to be classified, a coarse particle recovery line 13, a coarse particle recovery box 14 and a fine particle recovery line 15. A sample including particles to be classified having prescribed major axis d of ≥1 and ≤20 mm is charged from the sample charging part (sample charging line) 12. A swirling airflow flowing from a lower side to an upper side is formed in the classification container 11 (a classification space) and the particle to be classified charged in the classification space is carried upward by the swirling airflow or is carried downward by gravity according to its particle size. The coarse particles are recovered in a coarse particle sorting part constituted of the coarse particle recovery line 13 and the coarse particle recovery box 14 and the fine particles are recovered by being guided into the fine particle recovery line 15 as a fine particle sorting part.
