Abstract:

To obtain the subject elastomer useful for a muffler of automobile, etc., having heat resistance, excellent in mechanical strength and elongation, by dispersing specific particles in an elastomer.

(B) Particles in an amount of 0.5 to ≤10vol.% are dispersed into (A) an elastomer synthesized from (i) a metal alkoxide and (ii) an end saline polydimethylsiloxane. The molar ratio of the component (i) to the component (ii) is 0.5-5.0 and the average particle diameter of the component B is 0.01-0.5μm. Preferably the component B is obtained by hydrolyzing the metal alkoxide followed by heat treatment at a temp. of ≤200°C. For example, TiO2 is used as the component B.
