PURPOSE: To aim at reduction in the time required for adjustment of article width, by constituting one side of 2-set chains conveying an attachment pinching a body to make it separately shiftable with another chain mechanism, in case of a device bearing the above caption for a cartoning machine or the like.
CONSTITUTION: When article width W is adjusted, a main motor 30 is stopped, a servomotor 44 is rotated clockwise, and an end part 42' of a rack 42 is made contact with the limit switch 45 adjusted to an article width zero position. With this taction, each of free sprockets S4 and S7 rotates according to a travel, and with rotation of an auxiliary chain C3, sprockets S5 and S9 also rotate, and a chain C1 moves in a conveying direction, whereby front and rear attachments A1, A1' and A2, A2' are overlapped with one another. Successively, a servomotor 43 is rotated counterclockwise, and the chain C1 is shifted as far as the specified amount in the reverse direction via these sprockets S4, S7, S5 and S9. With this constitution, reduction in an article width adjusting time and improvement in accuracy are well promoted.
