In a particulate filter, a plurality of cells 2 partitioned by a partition wall 1 made from a porous material are set almost in parallel in the flow direction of the exhaust gas. The opening area of the each cell 2 is set almost equal. Either one of an end at an exhaust gas introducing side or an end at an exhaust gas deducing side of each cell 2 is blocked by a plug material 4. A blocking part of the cell 2 is distributively disposed by the plug material 4 in the end at the exhaust gas introducing side. A continuous blocking part 7 in which the continuous blocking parts of the cell 2 continue by the plug material 4 is provided in the end at the exhaust gas leading out side.
