Abstract:

PURPOSE: To feed a proper air volume at all times independently of types of engine by controlling the closing valve in a branch path connecting the inlet passage section and volute end section of said helical suction port in accordance with the magnitude of the exhaust pressure of an exhaust system.

CONSTITUTION: The inlet passage section A of a helical suction port 6 and the volute section B end section formed around a suction valve connected to the inlet passage section A are connected to each other by a branch section 14, which is opened or closed by a rotary valve 18. An actuator 26 is connected to the valve axis of the rotary valve 18 through an arm 22 and a rod 25, etc., and the diaphragm chamber 30 of the actuator 26 is coupled with an exhaust manifold 24 through a guide pipe 32. Accordingly, when the intake air volume is increased, for instance, and thereby the exhaust pressure exceeds a preset value determined by a spring 31, a diaphragm 27 is moved downward so as to open the rotary valve 18 through the rod 25 and the arm 22, etc.
