To provide an object detection system, with which the cost and space required to install a detection apparatus for detecting an object can be suppressed to minimum when the object is managed by use of a plurality of noncontact tags, in particular for detecting the passage of the object through a predetermined location.
The passage detection system for detecting that an object having at least one of a plurality of kinds of noncontact tags with different detection methods passes through a predetermined location includes: transmission means 3, 11 for performing transmission for detection to the object based on the different detection methods of the plurality of kinds of noncontact tags for detection; reception means 3, 11 for receiving a response signal corresponding to the tag that the object has from the object according to the transmission for detection by the transmission means; and a detection means 10 for detecting the passage of the object through the predetermined location on the basis of the result of reception by the reception means.
