If the abnormality is detected while a passbook is drawn out of a passbook storage part 4 and issued and if it is decided that the issue of the passbook is impossible, the passbook is closed and sent to a reject storage part 12. If the passbook is already closed, it is sent to the part 12 as it is. A page alignment part 11 has a function to close an opened passbook. Then the passbook closing direction is set identical to the direction where the side of the passbook that is close to the part 12 is put on the distant side on a carrier path 7 which connects the part 11 to the part 12.
