PURPOSE: To highly precisely transport especially a passbook and the like having a difference in levels by constituting a passbook and the like handling device in such a way that a carrier pulse amount is subtracted when a carrier amount exceeds a reference pulse amount and the carrier pulse amount is increased when the carrier amount is less than the reference pulse amount.

CONSTITUTION: A magnetic head 4 reading magnetism written into a magnetic passbook 2 carried to a prescribed position, a printing head 5 printing a handled sum to the magnetic passbook 2, a pair of carrier rollers 31 and 33 and pressure rollers 32 and 34 holding and carrying the magnetic passbook 2, a motor 7 which belt-drives the rollers 31-34, a rising sensor 6 detecting that the magnetic passbook 2 is carried to the prescribed position, a friction roller 11 and a control circuit controlling respective mechanisms are provided. When the carrier amount of the magnetic passbook 2 exceeds the reference pulse amount, the next carrier pulse amount is subtracted. When the carrier amount is less than the reference pulse amount, the next carrier pulse amount is increased so as to correct the erroneous carrier amount of the passbook and the like.
