PURPOSE: To conserve the housing space of a recovered passbook, by recovering the passbook of a customer to a recovery part in a shape folded by a page turning mechanism or a folding mechanism when the failure of the issue of the passbook or the forgetting to take the passbook of the customer is generated.

CONSTITUTION: The passbook from a passbook insert part 1 or the new passbook supplied from a passbook hopper 2 is subjected to page turning operation in a page turning part 15 if necessary and processed in a printing unit 3 or a magnetic reading and writing part 4 to be returned to a customer from the insert port 1. When the customer forgets to take the passbook or the magnetic writing to the new passbook from the passbook hoper 2 is not well performed, said passbook 8 is folded in the page turning part 5 or folded by revolving a link mechanism 9 in the direction shown by an arrow by a solenoid and recovered in a recovery box 6 by delivery roller pairs 7a, 7b. By this method, the housing space of the unnecessary passbook recovered can be conserved and the recovery quantity of the passbooks can be detected accurately.
