To obtain a passenger conveyor comb that prevents the occurrence of damage in a foot step, and can detect smaller foreign materials mounted on the foot step.
A comb 32 for an escalator is provided at a comb plate 31 installed at a doorway and has a foot step 2 passing at the downside. The comb includes: a roller 321 inserted into a groove 22 formed on a foot board 21 of the foot step 2, and displaced between a contact position coming into contact with the bottom surface 23 of the groove 22 and a detection position positioned more upward than this contact position; a support device 322 for supporting the roller 321 in a displaceable manner; and a switch 323 for detecting that the position of the roller 321 is the detection position. When the foot step 2 mounted with foreign materials 4 enters below the roller 321, the roller 321 is pushed up by the foreign materials 4 and displaced from the contact position to the detection position.
