Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To discover early a phenomenon generated by change with age of a moving handrail.SOLUTION: A passenger conveyor (1) comprises a plurality of foot steps (15), a driving device (10), a moving handrail (2), a balustrade (16), a deck board (19) having an entrance (17) for the moving handrail formed therein, and a control portion (6), which further has a protector (3a), provided in the vicinity of the entrance to be displaceable in a moving direction of the moving handrail, which prevents a foreign matter from entering the entrance and a sensor (4a) for detecting whether the protector is in contact with the moving handrail. The control portion, when an output value from the sensor surpasses a first threshold (E) and remains in a specific state where the output value surpasses a second threshold (D) larger than the first threshold, for a first period of time (T1), outputs specific information to the outside while driving the driving device (S10), and when the output value from the sensor surpasses the second threshold, stops the driving device.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
