To improve operation efficiency of a passenger conveyor by calling passenger's attention for indicating that an inlet part is a section having possibility of being pulled in before a safety device in the inlet part operates to prevent operation of the safety device to the utmost.
A handrail belt 6 sliding in an upper part of a railing advances into an end part of a skirt part 7. The skirt part 7 is provided with an inlet rubber 8 forming a substantially cylindrical shape so as to surround the handrail belt 6. A luminiare 16 is provided in an end part of the skirt part 7 positioned close to the inlet rubber 8 or an end part of the inlet rubber 8. This luminaire 16 has a cold cathode tube 17 or an LED element as a light source to call attention of a user of the passenger conveyor to indicate that the inlet part 9 is the section having possibility of being pulled in.
