This passenger conveyor includes a plurality of steps 20, each skirt guard 9a extended along a moving direction of each step 20 by keeping a gap with each step 20 on both sides of the lateral width direction of each step 20, and the nipping prevention device 30 provided in each of the plurality of steps 20. Each of the nipping prevention devices 30 includes detection devices 31 provided at both end parts of the lateral width direction of the step surface 21a of a tread 21 to detect prescribed pressure applied in a thickness direction of the tread 21, a speaker 36 for notifying the nipping attention to the passenger, and a control device 35 for calling the nipping attention of the passenger by operating the speaker 36 based on the detection signals of the detection devices 31.
