Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a passenger conveyor that detects a passenger having fallen down, prevents the associated risk from extending over to the other passengers and stops safely.SOLUTION: At a low position of a rail 3 are provided a plurality of passenger detection sensors 14 and 15 at a predetermined distance in the movement direction of a step 1, which when passenger detection sensors 14-N and 15-N disposed at an exit area A detect one passenger continuously for predetermined time, determine that the passenger has fallen down. The passenger detection sensors 14 and 15 arranged at a movement portion, when continuously do not detect any passengers for predetermined time, determine that the other passengers are not utilizing the conveyor; when determine that one passenger has fallen down and the other passengers are not utilizing the conveyor, stop an operation of the passenger conveyor; and when determine that one passenger has fallen down and the other passengers are utilizing the conveyor, continue the operation of the passenger conveyor.
