To provide a passenger escape device of a passenger conveyor which does not obstruct the normal operation of the passenger conveyor and escapes the passengers confined in the passenger conveyor.
In this passenger escape device of a passenger conveyor which is installed in the passenger conveyor for escaping the passengers from the passenger conveyor in an emergency, an opening is formed in an inner plate 4 which forms the side wall of a step 1 and a box 9 is embedded therein for installation. A cover 5 which normally closes the opening and, in an emergency, opens the opening is attached to the opening. The passenger escape device includes a leg assembly 11 the components of which are rotatably connected by joint members 14, folded, and stored in the box 9 and the upper end of which is fixed to the skeleton of the passenger conveyor, a fence assembly 12 the components of which are rotatably connected by joint members, folded, and stored in the box 9 and which is rotatably connected to the leg assembly 11, and a jack ladder assembly 13 which is folded and stored in the box 9 and one end of which is fixed to a shaft 15.
