Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a front passenger seat air bag device which can smoothly guard a crew member moving in an oblique frontward direction by an air bag that has been inflated.SOLUTION: An air bag 15 includes a body expansion part 17 and a projection inflation part 35. A crew member protection part 40 in a rear surface side thereof at the completion of inflation comprises: a protraction restraining surface 41; an oblique collision restraining surface 42; a restraining recess part 43 between the protraction restraining surface and the oblique collision restraining surface. A tether 65 for the recess part and a restriction tether 69 connecting the tip side of a recess of the restraining recess part with the forward edge side of the air bag at the completion of inflation are arranged inside of the air bag. The restriction tether is extended from the tip of the recess of the restraining recess to the isolation side lateral wall 35c of the projection inflation part, and a connecting position of an end edge side terminal 69a to the isolation side lateral wall is arranged at a position where a tensile force pulling the projection inflation part in the rear surface side of the body expansion part can occur when the tip of the restraining recess part moves forward, can be generated.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 16
