To provide a passive EL display device enabled to obtain a uniform display by reducing wiring resistance of an anode of EL element.
On an insulated base board 10 made of a glass plate, a plurality of line-shaped anodes 20 stretch in parallel with each other and a plurality of line-shaped cathodes 40 stretch in parallel with each other, and the directions of the anode 20 and the cathodes 40 are rectangular with each other, and at the crossing part, the EL elements are formed and arranged in matrix. A uniform display can be obtained because the signal supplied to the anode 20 is supplied to the organic EL elements without getting blurred owing to the lamination of metal 40 with high melting point such as Cr or the like on the line- shaped anode 20.
