To prevent the generation of troubles by the sagging of a paste and remove cutting wastages of a finger jointer by keeping off paste receiving trays provided on the lower sections of pasting rolls to the positions not interfering with the finger joint sections of a material to be cut at the time of pasting by the pasting rollers.

Paste receiving trays 20 are installed removably on receiving tray installing shafts 30 supported horizontally on a vertical lifting plate 17 to be rotatable by a bearing, and formed into the container shape with the upper faces opened so as to receive a paste sagging from pasting rolls 19. A rod 40 is drawn in the direction separating away from a cutter head 14 just before applying the paste to finger joints b, b by the pasting rolls 19, 19, and both installing shafts 30, 30 and the paste receiving trays 20, 20 installed on the shafts are rotated inwardly by the movement of the rod 40 respectively, and moved inside just below a section on which the edges of the pasting rolls 19, 19 are exposed, and kept off to the positions on which the trays are not interfered with the front end of an upstream side material (a) to be cut and the rear end of a downstream side material (a) to be cut.
