Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for the detection, diagnosis, identification of infectious disease pathogen based on the detection of mRNA in a crude and unpurified sample; and to provide a method for determining the sensitivity of the pathogen to therapies.SOLUTION: The invention provides a method for determining drug sensitivity of a pathogen comprising contacting a sample containing a pathogen with a test compound and providing a test sample; treating the test sample under the conditions that messenger ribonucleic acids (mRNA) are released into the test sample from the pathogen; subjecting a plurality of nucleic acid probes containing a plurality of probe subsets to the test sample; determining the binding level between the probe and a target mRNA to determine the level of the target mRNA thereby; and comparing the level of the target mRNA and the reference level under the presence of the test compound and showing that the pathogen is sensitivity or resistance to the test compound.SELECTED DRAWING: None
