PURPOSE: To exclude the complicatedness for input of character data by using an OCR as an apparent keyboard and switching this keyboard with an original keyboard by means of a switch.
CONSTITUTION: The characters on a slip 1 are converted into a digital pattern by a photoelectric converting part 2 and cut-out one by one through a cutting part 5. These cut-out characters are converted into a feature pattern by a feature extracting part 6 and recognized by a recognizing part 8. The result of this recognition is converted into an external transmission code by a control part 4 with reference to a memory 10 and stored once to an output buffer memory 11. The character conversion code train of the memory 11 is sent to a switch 13 via an output driver 12. The part 4 monitors the state of the switch 13 and transmits the contents of the memory 11 only when the switch 13 is turned toward the driver 12. The switch 13 switches outputs between the driver 12 and a keyboard and connects the switched output to a contact plug of a word processor 15.
