Abstract:
PURPOSE:To track even a pattern which varies by movement by tracking the movement of the pattern by pattern matching with an indicated pattern and substituting the pattern detected by this matching with the indicated pattern. CONSTITUTION:When a desired pattern is indicated in an optional frame of an input moving picture, the pattern which is closest to the indicated pattern is detected in a following frame. Then the detected pattern is substituted with the indicated pattern to update the pattern used for the detection in order. Namely, when the object patrols along a circulation path, a pattern x0 which is indicated first is substituted with a pattern x1 wherein the object changes its angle slightly and even if the visual pattern of the object changes, a pattern x2 of its front is securely tracked. Consequently, even the pattern which changes by the movement can be tracked.
