Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide polymeric structures having mechanical properties such as appropriate strength and rigidity and useful for ultrafiltration membranes, etc., which have a patterned porous surface portion containing specific pores in the polymeric structures with the remaining portion of a homogeneous non- porous polymer.
CONSTITUTION: Desired polymeric structures are composed of a patterned porous surface portion containing pores forming winding passages extending through all of the thickness of polymeric structures having a thickness, e.g. structures having a thickness of a polyamide, a nitrocellulose, a polyvinylidene fluoride, a PVC, a PS, a poly(ether)sulfone, a cellulose acetate or the like and the remaining portion of a homogeneous non-porous polymer.
