PURPOSE: To produce a suitable reinforcing material for a tire belt layer by using strands having mutually different patterns, parallelly arranging them on one plane, intertwisting and binding them so as to improve its high tension and durability and giving directionality to the flexural stiffness of the cord.
CONSTITUTION: A planar-wave shape or a spiral shape is applied to two or more strands 1a to 1d, 11a to 11c respectively and the respective strands are designed so as to be different in phase, pitch (p) or height (h) of patterning respectively. The strands are parallelly arranged on one plane X-X in a non- twisted state and bound to form non-contact parts (α) and contact parts (β) alternately in the longitudinal direction of the cord. A part of non-contact parts are formed at the entangled part (β) of the strand to form patterned bound cords 3 and 13 which are formed into bound strand bundles respectively. Further, the bound strand bundles 1a to 1d, 11a to 11c are bundled by wrapping wires 2 and 12 and the resultant bundled cords of the patterned strands are arranged in one direction and buried in a tire belt layer.
