This pedal retreat restraining device S is furnished with a pedal bracket 4, the front of which is fixed on a dash panel of a front part of a vehicle, the pedal 3 supported on the pedal bracket 4 and free to revolve in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle and a mounting bracket 5 to fix the pedal bracket 4 and a steering hanger 6. The pedal retreat restraining device S arranges a fixing point B2 of the mounting bracket 5 and the steering hanger 6 roughly at a center in the car widthwise direction of the mounting bracket 5. The pedal retreat restraining device S arranges a fixing point B1 of the mounting bracket 5 and the pedal bracket 4 by dislocating it from a center in the car widthwise direction of the mounting bracket 5.
