Title:
PEDALED BOAT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH11291984
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a pedaled boat of such a structure that the hull is advanced by pedals by feet to move fins up and down, in which a sporting factor is incorporated and the advancing efficiency is heightened according to the stamping power and technique of the rider.

When a pedal 5 is worked, its lever 4 moves down round a bearing 3, and a vertically moving rod 6 sinks through a roller 9, as shown by the dot line, and a fin 10 receives a resistance from the water to generate such a condition that the rear faces up. By the reaction of the water, a force F acts on the fin 10 in the direction perpendicular to the surface of the fin 10, and the component in the horizontal direction acts as a propelling force for the hull 1. When the foot force on the pedal 5 is relieved, the rod 6 and lever 4 rise, and the fin 10 elevates in the condition that the rear faces down because of resistance of water. At this time, the reaction force from the water acts on the fin 10, and the component in the horizontal direction acts as the advancing force.
