To construct a low-cost bridge improving problems of uneasiness in the safety of walking due to heavy sway, and anxiety about durability due to notable degradation of a wire rope formed of a fine wire, caused by rust formation in a suspension bridge or a suspension pedestrian bridge conveniently constructed using the wire rope.
A link chain is used instead of the wire rope. The link chain is fitted to anchor hardware installed with sufficient strength at both banks, in a suspendible manner by horizontal pins. The spacing of a pair of link plates of the link chain is conformed to the width of a footway, and the link plates function as beams for supporting plate-like or step-like walking floor plates according to the inclination. In addition, a cylindrical hole at the root of a handrail post is connected to the pin to cope with moment by lateral load, and the pitch of bolt holes for assembling the handrail post and a longitudinal member is made the same as the pitch of pinholes of the link plates to secure suspendibility as a whole.
