To provide a pedometer which can provide a highly accurate count of steps.
A means 46 for recognizing vibration not derived from walking determines whether or not vibration (walk signal Sp) equal to or greater than a predetermined level, detected by a walking vibration detecting means 40 (movable weight device 18, vibration. detecting switch 20), is derived from the walking action of a living body, according to information about the frequency of walking vibration calculated by a frequency information calculating means 44. When the vibration equal to or greater than the predetermined level, detected by the walking vibration detecting means 40, is determined to have no relation with the walking action of the living body, the vibration equal to or greater than the predetermined level, detected by the walking vibration detecting means 40, is not counted by a step counting means 42. Therefore, because counting of vibrations not related to the walking of the living body is prevented, a highly accurate count of steps can be obtained.
