To provide a pedometer for counting the number of human steps with precision no matter on which part of the body it is worn.
The pedometer is provided with a human sensor means placed within a distance where it can sense microvibrations propagating through a human body, for sensing microvibrations of the human body; a filter for selecting microvibrations caused by walking from human microvibration signals sensed by the sensor means; a means for arranging in time series the absolute values of the peak vales of the vibration waveforms selected by the filter; a means for selectively counting a pattern of walking from the patterns arranged by the means for arranging in time series the absolute values of the peak values of the vibration waveforms; and a display means for displaying the numerical value counted by the counting means as the number of steps.
