Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a small type bio-penetrating sensor which can be mass-produced, by composing a penetrating probe electrode of an amperometry type filled with an electrode material in a sealed tube in almost a cylindrical shape which has an opening protected by a membrane cover. CONSTITUTION: Both a penetrating probe electrode 1 and a reference electrode to be mounted on the skin of a subject or a counter electrode 2 are connected to a sensor circuit 3. The electrode 1 is a mixture 6 of particulate electrode material which is packed in the inner hollow of a needle 4 for hypodermic injection, the outside end of which is blocked by a plug 5 made of an adhesive heat polymerizate such as a cyanoacrylate polymer. As this electrode material, a mixture of particulate carbon and dymethylferrocene together with glucose oxidase can be used which has been the basis for an intermediating enzyme electrode for detecting a glucose. On the sidewall of this needle 4, an opening 7 having an accurate size is formed. The polymer semipermeable membrane 8, a phase-inversion membrane to be desirable, is set up contractedly by the solvent contracting method, for example, to hold the membrane at a predetermined position of the surrounding part of the needle 4. Adhesion to the needle 4 can be helped more by the end zone 9 of the binding material.
