To provide peptide molecules capable of showing the selective binding capacity to a specific inorganic material and also of recognizing and binding to the crystal surface.
A metal oxide nanocrystal face/nanoparticle detection probe is formed of a peptide molecule consisting of a following amino acid sequence (1) or (2) and binding to the crystal face of cerium oxide (111). The amino acid sequences are: (1) an amino acid sequence selected from the group consisting of LLADTTHHRPWT, ESLSIAPTTPQL, APEGNYSSSPGT and HTHSSDGSLLGN (single letter code); and (2) an amino acid sequence obtained by adding several amino acids (e.g., 1-5 amino acids, 1-3 amino acids) to the N-terminus and/or the C-terminus in each of the amino acid sequences represented in (1).
