PURPOSE: To provide a new peptide having a specific amino acid sequence, exhibiting specific reactivity and high binding property to diuretic hormone and useful as a detection reagent for diuretic hormone, a diagnostic agent for hypertension and a treating agent for suppressing and modifying the physiological function.
CONSTITUTION: The objective peptide containing a sequence of at least 4 consecutive amino acids existing in the amino acid sequence specified by formula I or formula II and bindable to diuretic hormone is produced by using an insoluble resin having functional groups as the solid-phase carrier for the solid-phase synthesis of peptide, bonding an amino acid having protected α-amino group and optionally side-chain functional group from the C-terminal side to the resin according to the amino acid sequence of the active part of an atrial natriuretic peptide receptor, removing the α-amino-protecting group, repeating the above operations to successively add the amino acids to synthesize a protected peptide resin and treating the resin with a trifluoroacetic acid solution, etc., to separate the peptide from the resin and remove all protecting groups from the peptide and finally purifying the product by high-performance liquid chromatography.
