To enable a player to visually enjoy a percussion instrument by providing pad portions in natural array and forming the external appearance of the whole musical instrument like a cut cake without spoiling percussion operability of the pad portions.
The external appearance of the percussion instrument 100 looks like a cut cake on a dish, and a cut cylinder 30 is provided on a base body 10. The cut cylinder 30 is in the shape formed by cutting and removing a part which is sectorial in plane view along perpendicular end surfaces 32L and 32R corresponding to cut surfaces of the cake from a cylindrical body. The end surfaces 32L and 32R contain an obtuse angle and face inwardly. On a top surface 30a of the cut cylinder 30, four pad portions 35 are arrayed peripherally having their center at the center point of the cylinder. Each pad section 35 has an external appearance of a strawberry.
