To provide a percutaneous formulation delivering an antipyretic effective dose of an opioid agonist preventing inadvertent use or abuse.
The percutaneous formulation includes the antipyretic effective dose of the opioid or a medically allowable salt of the same, and an opioid antagonist or a medically allowable salt of the same at a dose sufficient to inhibit an euphoric effect of the same. The percutaneous formulation is tamper-proof effective to inhibit the euphoric effect of the opioid by a self-administration together with the antagonist at a constant amount by the abuser, that is the self-administration of the opioid by a route capable of inducing a fast-acting euphoric rush known as a "burst" favorable for the abuser by extraction or separation of the opioid from the percutaneous formulation by the abuser, or the other route of the opioid, for example, but not restrictive to oral, parenteral, nasal, buccal, rectal or vaginal route.
