Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a perfluorocyclopentene derivative containing thiophere rings at the α- and the β-positions, having a specific structure, high mol absorptivity coefficient and isomerization ratio to a ring opening substance, useful as a photochromic material having excellent contrast of image.
CONSTITUTION: This derivative is shown by formula I or formula II (R1 is H or a lower alkyl; R2 is a lower alkyl; ring A and ring B may be either nonsubstituted or substituted with an alkyl) such as 1,2-bis[2,4-dimethyl-5-(4-(p-N, N-diethylaminophenylazo)phenyl)thiophen-3-yl]perfluorocyclopentene. For example, the derivative is obtained by subjecting a bisaminophenylthienylperfluorocyclopentene derivative of formula III and a compound of formula IV to azocoupling.
