Abstract:
PURPOSE:To stabilize the swing and rotating torque to complete the bearing of a ball joint in a short time, by applying a predetermined relative load onto a housing and a ball stud to plastically deform a local part of a resin bearing. CONSTITUTION:A bearing 9 made of highly wear-resistant synthetic resin such as, for example, nylon, polyethylene, polyacetal, having a seat surface embracing a spherical head 4 of a shank 3 of a ball stud 2, is fitted into a housing 5, and a close plate 8 is caulked to secure them. Then, the housing 5 is secured, and a predetermined load is applied to the ball stud 2. This load P may be applied in any direction in the case of an integral bearing type, but in the case of a split bearing type, it should be applied in the direction in which the resin bearing is compressed in the load exerted direction. Accordingly, a local material flow occurs in the resin bearing, and the resin bearing uniformly follows the shape of the spherical head 4, thereby it is possible to perform the bearing of the ball joint in a short time.
