Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a perfume composition which can be used as a musk substitute and can give a physiological effect on the human body with a very small amount by using a specified 5α-androst-16-en-3-one as the constituent.
CONSTITUTION: The gonad taken from a mature boar pig for butchery is chopped, extracted with an organic solvent, such as methanol, ethanol, acetone or ethyl acetate, and concentrated by distilling off the solvent through, e.g. vacuum concentration to give 5α-androst-16-en-3-one of the formula. 0.00001-5wt.% of the 5α-androst-16-en-3-one is incorporated into a perfume composition.
