Abstract:
To simply obtain a new perfume having a new characteristic fragrance and useful for cosmetics, etc., in a high yield by deacetylating a specific butyrolactone.
A compound of formula I (R1, R2 are each a 1-12C alkyl, a 2-11C alkenyl, allyl, methallyl, etc.,), e.g. α-ethyl-α-prenyl-γ-butyrolactone. The compound of formula I is obtained by deacetylating an α-acetyl-α-substituted γ-butyrolactone of formula II in the presence of an alkali metal alkoxide and subsequently isolating and purifying the produced α-substituted α-buturolactone of formula III with aa/R2 halide, especially an aryl halide, etc.
