Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbon electrode in which the adhesion of base material and carbon bodies is excellent, strength as an electrode is large, and a large number of layer-like structure portions are contained in the carbon bodies.
SOLUTION: An electrode is made of a porous metal base body and carbon bodies 2 sticking to metal base body surfaces, and compounds or solid solution 3 of metal constituting the porous metal body and carbon are formed on the boundary faces of the carbon bodies 2 and the porous metal base body. The carbon bodies 2 are produced by burning solid or liquid organic compounds in the contacting state with the porous metal base body.
