Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a permanent current switch capable of suppressing increase in the load of refrigeration means when turning the switch OFF, while cooling a superconducting wire effectively when turning the switch ON.SOLUTION: In a permanent current switch (1) including a reel (12), a superconducting wire (25), a first heater (21), a housing (30), an operation medium (50), and a second heater (42), the housing (30) has a bottom wall (32), and a support wall (34) for supporting the reel (12) at a position where an interruption space is formed between a lower end (18) of the reel and the bottom wall (32). The amount of the operation medium (50) is set sufficiently so that the operation medium (50) accumulates in the interruption space in the state of liquid phase, when the temperature thereof goes below the condensation temperature, and a solid layer having a shape for filling the interruption space is formed so as to thermally connect the lower end (18) of the reel and the bottom wall (32), when the temperature of the operation medium (50) goes below the solidification temperature.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
