To provide a permanent magnet armature solenoid comprising a flexible tip part of reliability and durability for long service life, wherein a tip part is allowed to extend fully from the coil a solenoid without deforming or breaking an armature material, while design is relatively simple and economical manufacture and assembly are possible.

A permanent magnet armature solenoid 10 has a tip part 16 configured of a material, comprising a non-magnetic material which is operationally connected to a ferromagnetic insert 18. The tip part 16 is held tightly at an end part of a magnet armature 20 by magnetic attraction between the insert 18 and the magnet armature 20. The magnetic field of the magnet armature 20 keeps the magnet armature 20 and the insert 18 as a single unit, even under high acceleration, high deceleration, and rapid movement of the magnet armature 20. Since the insert 18 is smaller compared to the magnet armature 20, adding of the insert 18 to the solenoid 10 does not adversely affected significantly the performance of the solenoid 10. The insert 18 is preferably is of such a metal as to be apt to be affected by magnetism, such as iron, steel, or stainless steel.
