To provide a permanent magnet synchronous machine, which is capable of attaining a smaller space and more efficient use and a higher degree of integration of the quantity of magnetism than a motor or a generator involving a conventional magnetic bearing.
A stator coil 18 is provided with the current having a waveform, which produces not only a driving torque for rotating a rotor 12 but also a magnetic bearing for supporting the rotor 12. The current waveform required for the operation of the magnetic bearing and the motor is added electrically inside a controller 20 and supplied to the stator coil 18, so that this rotating machine generates similar functions more efficiently to the ones provided with an independent magnetic bearing winding and generator winding.
