To obtain a composition for polymer curing having comparable curing time and improved scorch time even if curing density is not remarkably lowered by compounding trans-stilbene in an organic peroxide.
This composition comprises (A) an organic peroxide having formula selected from formula I and II [R1 and R3 are each 1-9C alkyl, aryl or the like; R2 is phenylene, ethylene or the like; (n) is 1 or 2; R4 and R5 are each a 1-6C alkyl or joined together to form a cyclohexane having 1-3 1-4C alkyl(s), or the like] (pref. e.g. dicumyl peroxide) and (B) trans-stilbene of formula III. It is preferable that the amount of the component B to be used is 0.3-1 pt.wt. per 100 pts.wt. of a polymer to be cured and the weight ratio the component A/the component B is (1:0.10) to (1:0.40). The objective composition can be applied to ethylene-based polymers such as high-density polyethylenes and ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymers.
