Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain the title copolymer containing a maleimide compound residue, unsaturated peroxycarbonate residue and vinyl monomer residue each having a specific structural formula at a specific ratio, capable of readily treating, having excellent heat resistance and suitable as a high polymer modifier. CONSTITUTION:A monomer such as N-methylmaleimide is copolymerized with a monomer such as tert.-butylperoxyallyl carbonate and monomer such as styrene in the presence of a radical polymerization initiator to provide the aimed copolymer consisting of 20-99wt.% maleimide compound residue expressed by formula I (R1 and R2 are H, halogen, etc.; R3 is 1-18C alkyl, etc.), 0.1-20wt.% unsaturated peroxycarbonate residue expressed by formula II (R4 and R5 are H or methyl; R6 is 1-12C alkyl; m and l is 0 or 1 and m+l=1; m is 0-2) and 0.5-79wt.% vinyl monomer residue expressed by formula III (R7 is H, halogen, etc., and R8 is alkyl) and having 2000-600000 weight-average molecular weight.
