To provide a person identification system and a person identification method, reducing a collation processing time, and improving identification accuracy.

In this person identification system to identify a walker (a moving person), a physical characteristic except a face image of the target person is previously acquired before face collation processing, the face image to be collated is refined based on the acquired physical characteristic, and thereafter the face collation processing is executed.
