A card 10 having an integrated circuit including a processor and a memory in its inside is issued to a consumer 12, personal information is regisered in the card 10 by the consumer 12 himself (or herself) and the card 10 regsitering the personal information is inserted into a terminal equipment in a service providing system 100 to automatically receive service. Since the consumer 12 sets up a disclosure flag only for information to be disclosed at the time of registration, personal information is provided to a personal information request from the system 100 only when its disclosure flag is stet up. When the disclosure flag is reset, the personal information is not provided.
